1
ושכיב יהושפט עם אבהתוי ואתקבר בקרתא דדוד ומליך יהורם בריה באתרוהי:
bathrwhy bryh yhwrm wmlyk ddwd bqrtha wathqbr abhthwy em yhwshpT wshkyb
Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in David’s city; and Jehoram his son reigned in his place.

וליה אחין בני יהושפט עזריה ויחיאל וזכריהו ועזריהו ומיכאל ושפטיהו כל אלין בני יהושפט מלכא דישראל:
dyshral mlka yhwshpT bny alyn kl wshpTyhw wmykal wezryhw wzkryhw wykhyal ezryh yhwshpT bny akhyn wlyh
He had brothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat: Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariah, Michael, and Shephatiah. All these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.

ויהב להון אבוהון מתנן סגיעין לכספא ולדהבא וללבושין דיקר ואקניאונון על גב קרקעא בהדי קרוין כריכן בארעא דבית יהודה וית מלכותא יהב ליהורם בריה ארום הוא בוכרא:
bwkra hwa arwm bryh lyhwrm yhb mlkwtha wyth yhwdh dbyth barea krykn qrwyn bhdy qrqea gb el waqnyawnwn dyqr wllbwshyn wldhba lkspa sgyeyn mthnn abwhwn lhwn wyhb
Their father gave them great gifts of silver, of gold, and of precious things, with fortified cities in Judah; but he gave the kingdom to Jehoram, because he was the firstborn.

וקם יהורם על מלכותא דאבוהי ואתקף וקטל ית כל אחוהי בחרבא ואוף מרברבי ישראל:
yshral mrbrby wawp bkhrba akhwhy kl yth wqTl wathqp dabwhy mlkwtha el yhwrm wqm
Now when Jehoram had risen up over the kingdom of his father, and had strengthened himself, he killed all his brothers with the sword, and also some of the princes of Israel.

בר תלתין ותרתין שנין הוה כד מלך ותמני שנין מלך בירושלם:
byrwshlm mlk shnyn wthmny mlk kd hwh shnyn wthrthyn thlthyn br
Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

והליך באורח מלכיא דבית ישראל היכמה דעבדו בית אחאב ארום בת אחאב הות ליה לאנתו ועבד דביש קדם יי:
yy qdm dbysh webd lanthw lyh hwth akhab bth arwm akhab byth debdw hykmh yshral dbyth mlkya bawrkh whlyk
He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did Ahab’s house, for he had Ahab’s daughter as his wife. He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight.

ולא הות רעותא מן קדם יי לחבלא ית בית דוד מן בגלל קימא דגזר עם דוד והיכמה דאמר למתן ליה מלכו ולבנוי כל יומיא:
ywmya kl wlbnwy mlkw lyh lmthn damr whykmh dwd em dgzr qyma bgll mn dwd byth yth lkhbla yy qdm mn rewtha hwth wla
However Yahweh would not destroy David’s house, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a lamp to him and to his children always.

ביומוי מרדו אדומאי ואשתמיטו מתחות ידא דבית יהודה ואמליכו עליהון מלכא:
mlka elyhwn wamlykw yhwdh dbyth yda mthkhwth washthmyTw adwmay mrdw bywmwy
In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.

ועבר יהורם עם רברבנוי וכל ארתכיא דעמיה והוה כד קם בליליא וקטל ית אדומאי דקימין חזור חזור ליה וית רברבי ארתכין:
arthkyn rbrby wyth lyh khzwr khzwr dqymyn adwmay yth wqTl blylya qm kd whwh demyh arthkya wkl rbrbnwy em yhwrm webr
Then Jehoram went there with his captains and all his chariots with him. He rose up by night and struck the Edomites who surrounded him, along with the captains of the chariots.

ומרדו אדומאי ואשתמיטו מתחות ידא דבית יהודה עד יומא הדין הא בכין מרדת לבנה בעדנא ההיא ואשתמיטת מתחות ידיה ארום מטול דשבק ית דחלתא דיי אלהא דאבהתוי:
dabhthwy alha dyy dkhltha yth dshbq mTwl arwm ydyh mthkhwth washthmyTth hhya bedna lbnh mrdth bkyn ha hdyn ywma ed yhwdh dbyth yda mthkhwth washthmyTw adwmay wmrdw
So Edom has been in revolt from under the hand of Judah to this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time from under his hand, because he had forsaken Yahweh, the God of his fathers.

אוף הוא עבד במסיא בטורי יהודה ואטעות יתבי ירושלם ואטעי ית דבית יהודה:
yhwdh dbyth yth waTey yrwshlm ythby waTewth yhwdh bTwry bmsya ebd hwa awp
Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and made the inhabitants of Jerusalem play the prostitute, and led Judah astray.

ואתא לותיה פטקא מן אליהו נביא למימר כדנן אמר יי אלהא דדויד אבוך חולף דלא הליכתא בארחתא דיהושפט אבוך ובארחתא דאסא מליך שבטא דבית יהודה:
yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlyk dasa wbarkhtha abwk dyhwshpT barkhtha hlyktha dla khwlp abwk ddwyd alha yy amr kdnn lmymr nbya alyhw mn pTqa lwthyh watha
A letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, “Yahweh, the God of David your father, says, ‘Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

והליכתא בארחת מלכיא דבית ישראל ואטעיתא ית דבית יהודה ויתבי ירושלם היכמה דאטעא יתהון דבית אחאב ואוף ית אחך ובית אבוך דטבין מנך קטילתא:
qTyltha mnk dTbyn abwk wbyth akhk yth wawp akhab dbyth ythhwn daTea hykmh yrwshlm wythby yhwdh dbyth yth waTeytha yshral dbyth mlkya barkhth whlyktha
but have walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and have made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the prostitute like Ahab’s house did, and also have slain your brothers of your father’s house, who were better than yourself,

והא מימרא דיי מגרי מותנא רבתא בעמך ובבניך ובנשיך ובכל קנינך:
qnynk wbkl wbnshyk wbbnyk bemk rbtha mwthna mgry dyy mymra wha
behold, Yahweh will strike your people with a great plague, including your children, your wives, and all your possessions;

ואנת במרעין סגיעין במרעית מעיך עד זמן דיפקון מעיך מן גושמך מן מרעית דיוריך עלך יומיא על שניא:
shnya el ywmya elk dywryk mreyth mn gwshmk mn meyk dypqwn zmn ed meyk bmreyth sgyeyn bmreyn wanth
and you will have great sickness with a disease of your bowels, until your bowels fall out by reason of the sickness, day by day.’”

ותרי מימרא דיי על יהורם ית רוחא דפלשתאי וערבאי די על תחומי אפריקאי:
apryqay thkhwmy el dy werbay dplshthay rwkha yth yhwrm el dyy mymra wthry
Yahweh stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines and of the Arabians who are beside the Ethiopians;

וסליקו בארעא דבית יהודה וכבשוהא ושבו ית כל קנינא דאשתכח לבית מלכא אוף ית בנוי ונשוי ולא אשתיר ליה בר אלהן אחזיהו דזוטר בבנוי:
bbnwy dzwTr akhzyhw alhn br lyh ashthyr wla wnshwy bnwy yth awp mlka lbyth dashthkkh qnyna kl yth wshbw wkbshwha yhwdh dbyth barea wslyqw
and they came up against Judah, broke into it, and carried away all the possessions that were found in the king’s house, including his sons and his wives, so that there was no son left to him except Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.

ומן בתר כל דנא תברי מימרא דיי במעונוי במרעין דלית אסא:
asa dlyth bmreyn bmewnwy dyy mymra thbry dna kl bthr wmn
After all this Yahweh struck him in his bowels with an incurable disease.

והוה לזמן יומין ושנין ובעדן דעבד צרכיה יתיר מן קציה ליומין תרין נפקו מעינוי עם מרעיה ומית במרעין בישין ולא עבדו ליה עמיה יקידת קיסי בוסמנין היך יקידת אבהתוי:
abhthwy yqydth hyk bwsmnyn qysy yqydth emyh lyh ebdw wla byshyn bmreyn wmyth mreyh em meynwy npqw thryn lywmyn qtsyh mn ythyr tsrkyh debd wbedn wshnyn ywmyn lzmn whwh
In process of time, at the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness, and he died of severe diseases. His people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.

בר תלתין ותרתין שנין הוה כד מלך ותמני שנין מלך בירושלם ואזל לבית קבורתא בלא רגוגתא וקברו יתיה בקרתא דדוד ולא בקברי מלכיא:
mlkya bqbry wla ddwd bqrtha ythyh wqbrw rgwgtha bla qbwrtha lbyth wazl byrwshlm mlk shnyn wthmny mlk kd hwh shnyn wthrthyn thlthyn br
He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. He departed with no one’s regret. They buried him in David’s city, but not in the tombs of the kings.
