ܘܫܟܒ ܝܗܘܫܦܛ ܥܡ ܐܒܗ̈ܬܗ ܘܐܬܩܒܪ ܠܘܬ ܐܒܗ̈ܬܗ ܒܩܪܝܬܐ ܕܕܘܝܕ ܘܩܡ ܒܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܝܗܘܪܡ ܒܪܗ ܒܬܪܗ
bthrh brh yhwrm bmlkwth' wqm ddwyd bqryth' 'bhthh lwth w'thqbr 'bhthh em yhwshpT wshkb
Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in David’s city; and Jehoram his son reigned in his place.

ܘܠܗ ܐܝܬ ܗܘܘ ܐܚ̈ܐ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܝܗܘܫܦܛ ܘܗܠܝܢ ܫܡܗ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܥܙܪܝܐ ܢܚܘܐܝܠ ܙܟܪܝܐ ܥܙܪܝܐ ܡܠܟܐܝܠ ܫܒܛܝܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܒܢܘ̈ܗܝ ܕܝܗܘܫܦܛ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ

He had brothers, the sons of Jehoshaphat: Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariah, Michael, and Shephatiah. All these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.

ܘܝܗܒ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܒܘܗܘܢ ܡܘܗ̈ܒܬܐ ܣܓܝ ܟܣܦܐ ܘܕܗܒܐ ܘܡܘܗ̈ܒܬܐ ܣܓܝܐ̈ܬܐ ܘܩܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܥܫܝܢ̈ܬܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܐܬܝܗܒܬ ܠܝܗܘܪܡ ܡܛܠ ܕܗܘܝܘ ܗܘܐ ܒܪܗ ܩܫܝܫܐ
qshysh' brh hw' dhwyw mTl lyhwrm 'thyhbth wmlkwth' dyhwd' eshynth' wqwry' sgy'th' wmwhbth' wdhb' ksp' sgy mwhbth' 'bwhwn lhwn wyhb
Their father gave them great gifts of silver, of gold, and of precious things, with fortified cities in Judah; but he gave the kingdom to Jehoram, because he was the firstborn.

ܘܩܡ ܝܗܘܪܡ ܥܠ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܐܒܘܗܝ ܘܐܬܓܒܪ ܘܩܛܠ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܚܘ̈ܗܝ ܒܩܪܒܐ ܘܐܦ ܡܢ ܩܫܝ̈ܫܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܩܛܠ

Now when Jehoram had risen up over the kingdom of his father, and had strengthened himself, he killed all his brothers with the sword, and also some of the princes of Israel.

ܒܪ ܬܠܬܝܢ ܗܘܐ ܘܬܪܬܝܢ ܫܢ̈ܝܢ ܟܕ ܩܡ ܒܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܘܬܡܢܐ ܫܢ̈ܝܢ ܐܡܠܟ ܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ
b'wrshlm 'mlk shnyn wthmn' bmlkwth' qm kd shnyn wthrthyn hw' thlthyn br
Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

ܘܗܠܟ ܒܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܐ ܕܡܠܟ̈ܐ ܕܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܥܒܕܘ ܕܒܝܬ ܐܚܒ ܡܛܠ ܕܚܬܗ ܕܐܚܒ ܗܘܬ ܠܗ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܘܥܒܕ ܕܒܝ̣ܫ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' qdm dbysh webd 'nthth' lh hwth d'khb dkhthh mTl 'khb dbyth debdw 'ykn' dysryl dmlk' b'wrkhth' whlk
He walked in the way of the kings of Israel, as did Ahab’s house, for he had Ahab’s daughter as his wife. He did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight.

ܘܠܐ ܨܒܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܚܒܠܘ ܒܝܬܗ ܕܕܘܝܕ ܡܛܠ ܡܘܡܬܐ ܕܝܡܐ ܠܕܘܝܕ ܠܡܬܠ ܠܗ ܫܪܓܐ ܢܗܝܪܐ ܘܠܒܢܘ̈ܗܝ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ
ywmth' klhwn wlbnwhy nhyr' shrg' lh lmthl ldwyd dym' mwmth' mTl ddwyd bythh lmkhblw mry' tsb' wl'
However Yahweh would not destroy David’s house, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a lamp to him and to his children always.

ܒܝܘܡ̈ܬܗ ܡܪܕܘ ܐܕܘܡ̈ܝܐ ܡܢ ܬܚܝܬ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܐܩܝܡܘ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܡܠܟܐ
mlk' elyhwn w'qymw dyhwd' 'yd' thkhyth mn 'dwmy' mrdw bywmthh
In his days Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah, and made a king over themselves.

ܘܥܒܪ ܝܗܘܪܡ ܥܡ ܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܘܗܝ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܙܘܓ̈ܘܗܝ ܥܡܗ ܘܗܘܐ ܕܟܕ ܩܡ ܒܠܠܝܐ ܚܪܒܘ ܠܐܕܘ̈ܡܝܐ ܘܐܬܘ ܠܘܬܗ ܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܕܙܘܓ̈ܐ
dzwg' rwrbn' lwthh w'thw l'dwmy' khrbw blly' qm dkd whw' emh zwgwhy wklhwn rwrbnwhy em yhwrm webr
Then Jehoram went there with his captains and all his chariots with him. He rose up by night and struck the Edomites who surrounded him, along with the captains of the chariots.

ܘܡܪܕܘ ܐܕܘܡ̈ܝܐ ܡܢ ܬܚܝܬ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܢܐ ܗܝܕܝܢ ܡܪܕܘ ܐܕܘܡ̈ܝܐ ܕܝܬ̇ܒܝܢ ܒܠܒܢܐ ܒܙܒܢܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܡܢ ܬܚܝܬ ܐܝܕܗ ܡܛܠ ܕܫܒܩ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܐܒܗ̈ܬܗ
d'bhthh 'lh' lmry' dshbq mTl 'ydh thkhyth mn hw bzbn' blbn' dythbyn 'dwmy' mrdw hydyn lywmn' edm' dyhwd' 'yd' thkhyth mn 'dwmy' wmrdw
So Edom has been in revolt from under the hand of Judah to this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time from under his hand, because he had forsaken Yahweh, the God of his fathers.

ܘܐܦ ܗܘ ܥܒܕ ܥܠܘ̈ܬܐ ܒܛܘܪܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܚܡܪܐ ܐܫܩܝ ܠܢܙܝܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܕܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܒܕܪ ܠܕܒܝܬ ܝܗܘܕܐ
yhwd' ldbyth wbdr d'wrshlm lnzyryh 'shqy wkhmr' dyhwd' bTwr' elwth' ebd hw w'p
Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and made the inhabitants of Jerusalem play the prostitute, and led Judah astray.

ܘܐܝܬܝ ܠܘܬܗ ܡܢ ܦܬܓ̈ܡܐ ܕܐܠܝܐ ܢܒܝܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡ̇ܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܗ ܕܕܘܝܕ ܐܒܘܟ ܚܠܦ ܕܠܐ ܗܠܟܬ ܒܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗ ܕܝܗܘܫܦܛ ܐܒܘܟ ܘܒܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗ ܕܐܣܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ

A letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, “Yahweh, the God of David your father, says, ‘Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

ܘܗܠܟܬ ܠܟ ܒܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܐ ܕܡ̈ܠܟܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܐܛܥܝܬ ܠܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܠܥܡܘܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܕܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܒܙܢܝܘܬܐ ܕܒܝܬ ܐܚܒ ܘܐܦ ܠܐܚܝ̈ܟ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܒܘܟ ܕܛܒܝܢ ܡܢܟ ܩܛܠܬ

but have walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and have made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the prostitute like Ahab’s house did, and also have slain your brothers of your father’s house, who were better than yourself,

ܗܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܚ̇ܐ ܠܟ ܡܚܘܬܐ ܪܒܬܐ ܘܠܥܡܟ ܘܠܒܢ̈ܝܟ ܘܠܢܫ̈ܝܟ ܘܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܢܟܣܝ̈ܟ

behold, Yahweh will strike your people with a great plague, including your children, your wives, and all your possessions;

ܘܐܢܬ ܒܟܘܪܗܢܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܬܡܘܬ ܘܒܬܫܢܝܩܐ ܪܒܐ ܬܐܒܕ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܐܝܟܐ ܕܢܦܩܘܢ ܡܥ̈ܝܟ ܡܢ ܟܘܪܗܢܟ ܘܫܢ̈ܝܢ ܣܓܝܐ̈ܢ ܒܬܫܢܝܩܐ ܬܦܠ
thpl bthshnyq' sgy'n wshnyn kwrhnk mn meyk dnpqwn l'yk' edm' th'bd rb' wbthshnyq' thmwth sgy'' bkwrhn' w'nth
and you will have great sickness with a disease of your bowels, until your bowels fall out by reason of the sickness, day by day.’”

ܘܢܥܝܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܝܘܪܡ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܦܠܫ̈ܬܝܐ ܘܕܥܪ̈ܒܝܐ ܕܫܪܝܢ ܒܝܬ ܗܢܕܘ̈ܝܐ
hndwy' byth dshryn wderby' dplshthy' rwkh' ywrm el mry' wneyr
Yahweh stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines and of the Arabians who are beside the Ethiopians;

ܘܢܣܩܘܢ ܥܠ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܢܚܪܒܘܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܢܗܦܟܘܢ ܟܘܠܗ̇ ܫܒܝܬܐ ܕܐܫܬܟܚܬ ܠܒܝܬ ܡܠܟܐ ܘܐܦ ܒܢܘ̈ܗܝ ܘܢܫܘ̈ܗܝ ܘܠܐ ܢܫܬܒܩ ܠܗ ܒܪܐ ܕܟܪܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ܐܚܙܝܐ ܒܪܗ ܙܥܘܪܐ
zewr' brh 'khzy' 'n 'l' dkr' br' lh nshthbq wl' wnshwhy bnwhy w'p mlk' lbyth d'shthkkhth shbyth' kwlh wnhpkwn 'nwn wnkhrbwn yhwd' el wnsqwn
and they came up against Judah, broke into it, and carried away all the possessions that were found in the king’s house, including his sons and his wives, so that there was no son left to him except Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.

ܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܟܘܠܗܝܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܚܘܬܐ ܬܗܘܐ ܒܡܥ̈ܘܗܝ ܘܒܟܘܪܗܢܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܢܡܘܬ ܘܐܣܝܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܬܗܘܐ ܠܗ
lh thhw' l' w'sywth' nmwth sgy'' wbkwrhn' bmewhy thhw' mkhwth' hlyn kwlhyn bthr mn
After all this Yahweh struck him in his bowels with an incurable disease.

ܘܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܝܘ̈ܡܬܐ ܣܓ̈ܝܐܐ ܟܕ ܫܠܡܬ ܡܠܬܗ ܕܢܒܝܐ ܠܫܢ̈ܝܢ ܬܪ̈ܬܝܢ ܢܦܩܘ ܡܥܘ̈ܗܝ ܡܢ ܟܘܪܗܢܗ ܘܡܝܬ ܒܟܘܪܗܢܐ ܒܝ̣ܫܐ ܘܠܐ ܥܒܕܘ ܠܗ ܐܝܩܪܐ ܥܡܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܥܒܕܘ ܠܐܒܗ̈ܬܗ
l'bhthh debdw 'ykn' em' 'yqr' lh ebdw wl' bysh' bkwrhn' wmyth kwrhnh mn mewhy npqw thrthyn lshnyn dnby' mlthh shlmth kd sgy'' ywmth' bthr mn whw'
In process of time, at the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness, and he died of severe diseases. His people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.

ܒܪ ܬܠܬܝܢ ܗܘܐ ܘܬܪܬܝܢ ܫܢ̈ܝܢ ܟܕ ܩܡ ܒܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܘܬܡܢܐ ܫܢ̈ܝܢ ܐܡܠܟ ܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܐܙܠ ܕܠܐ ܪܓܬܐ ܘܐܬܩܒܪ ܒܩܪܝܬܗ ܕܕܘܝܕ ܐܒܘܗܝ ܘܠܐ ܒܩܒܘܪܬܐ ܕܡܠܟ̈ܐ
dmlk' bqbwrth' wl' 'bwhy ddwyd bqrythh w'thqbr rgth' dl' w'zl b'wrshlm 'mlk shnyn wthmn' bmlkwth' qm kd shnyn wthrthyn hw' thlthyn br
He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. He departed with no one’s regret. They buried him in David’s city, but not in the tombs of the kings.
